New decoration of our small green space, in the conservation area and close to our listed 19th c bridge.

The environment agency didn't need to ask for planning permission to plant a water level gauge, but they did ask the Parish Council, which agreed on the position. It could be that the gauge will indeed register runoff from the stream from Harberton, which enters the Harbourne below the bridge, but one can speculate that it was sited for convenience of access. We could ask that its signal be always available on a web page, or in coloured lights suspended from the tree above.

Bridget Green of the Forward Planning department of South Hams District Council answered questions about the [Housing] site allocations development plan for Harbertonford, at a meeting in the school on June 1 2010. The minutes of the meeting.

The background to this meeting is that on 30 April 2010 South Hams District Council published the Site Allocations Development Plan Documents (DPDs)

These DPDs identify sites for needed development of housing (especially affordable homes), employment and associated community facilities to 2016 and beyond.

There is a six week public consultation period. Representations must be received by 4.00 pm on Friday 2 July 2010.

The DPDs are available electronically on the Council's consultation portal: http://consult.southhams.gov.uk/portal and on the Council’s website: www.southhams.gov.uk.

The council encourages those who wish to make representations to do so electronically via the Council’s consultation portal. It is recommended that representations made by other means should also use the representation form. The form and guidance notes can be downloaded from the Council’s website and can also be photocopied.

Harbertonford is a village of about 300 houses, 5 km south of Totnes in the region of the South Hams. It lies in the valley of the Harbourne river which is a tributary of the Dart. The river has a steep gradient and has served a string of water mills. Upstream is the latest major construction in the village - the flood defence dam, which does close its sluices occasionally. So the village has remained dry. The picture shows the village centre: the post office stores, with an unusually broad and interesting assortment of things to eat and the tamed Harbourne river in the foreground.

So the village has remained dry. Nine days of art 21 - 29 October 2006

Visit our local artists and craftspeople. The standard is very high. There are brochures at the post office. A group of six local artists has decorated Woodcourt Studio with their recent work, so drop in between 10:30 and 17:15 but not on Monday 23 Oct (Woodcourt Lane, beyond the village hall).

Local people are welcome to advertise on this website, but most haven't yet done so! So please: Harbertonford creators, create your own page on this website. Ask the webmaster if you are unsure how to do it.

Harbertonford is a village of about 300 houses, 5 km south of Totnes in the region of the South Hams. It lies in the valley of the Harbourne which is a tributary of the Dart. The river has a steep gradient and has served a string of water mills. Upstream is the latest major construction in the village - the flood defence dam, which did work one day in November this year. So the village has remained dry. The picture shows the village centre: the post office stores, with an unusually broad and interesting assortment of things to eat and the tamed Harbourne in the foreground.
