Having lived in Harbertonford for the last twelve years, I have been actively involved in the Harbertonford Sports and Social Group (HSSG), the History Society, Palmers Field Reserve, the Green Energy Group and the Village Hall, as well as driving the Harbourne Shuttle on a regular basis.

The Parish Council has demonstrated that it can play a role in supporting new provision in the village including the allotment site and the playground. New challenges facing the parish include the proposed housing development and wind turbine sites as well as continuing issues such as road safety, parking and dog fouling. The village also has a shortage of informal green spaces and youth facilities, while communal facilities like the pub, shop, petrol filling station and church all face ongoing pressures which could threaten their survival. If Harbertonford is to meet these challenges then the support and engagement of the whole community will be needed. The Parish Council has an important role in representing the community and focusing support from the community.

Being retired, I have time to devote to the Parish Council, while my professional experience as a town planner and economic consultant should complement the skills and experience of other elected parish councillors.
